Our Story
Launching Minds Academy was founded with a clear purpose: to equip students with the skills they need to succeed not only in school, but in life. While traditional education plays a critical role in building academic knowledge, many students benefit from additional, intentional guidance in developing practical skills that support real‑world success.
Skills such as leadership, financial literacy, decision‑making, and personal responsibility are essential for long‑term readiness, yet they are often underrepresented within conventional coursework. Launching Minds Academy was created to address this gap by providing thoughtful, engaging enrichment experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
Our programs are intentionally designed to support students during key developmental years, helping them build confidence, strengthen judgment, and develop transferable skills that apply across academic, personal, and future pathways. Through small‑group, instructor‑led virtual learning, Launching Minds Academy empowers students to grow as capable, independent learners prepared to navigate the opportunities and responsibilities ahead.

Launching Minds Academy empowers students in grades 6–12 to learn with purpose, lead with confidence, and thrive in life. Through high‑quality virtual enrichment programs, we support the development of financial literacy, leadership skills, essential life skills, and college and career readiness.
We believe that leadership, discipline, and financial literacy are foundational life skills that every student deserves the opportunity to develop intentionally. While academic achievement is important, true readiness for the future requires balanced growth that is academic, personal, and practical.
Our approach emphasizes purposeful learning, practical application, and personal growth, helping students make informed decisions, set meaningful goals, and take ownership of their learning journey. Through structured guidance, mentorship, and real‑world application, our programs cultivate responsible decision‑making, accountability, and confidence during the critical middle and high school years.
By fostering curiosity, reflection, and self‑direction, Launching Minds Academy equips students with the mindset, habits, and skills needed for long‑term independence and success, both in school and beyond.

Launching Minds Academy was founded and is led by Dr. Kahmran Abrahams, an experienced educator and educational leader with nearly two decades of service in Miami‑Dade County Public Schools. Dr. Abrahams holds a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Management from St. Thomas University, a Master of Education in Social Studies Education from Union Institute & University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Central Florida.
In addition to his formal degrees, Dr. Abrahams has completed advanced certificate programs that directly inform the mission and design of Launching Minds Academy. These include a Cowin Financial Literacy Certificate from Columbia University, a Personal Finance Certificate from the University of Central Florida, and an Economics for Leaders Certificate from the Foundation for Teaching Economics. This specialized training strengthens the academy’s emphasis on financial literacy, informed decision‑making, and leadership development.
Dr. Abrahams’ professional background spans classroom instruction, school‑based leadership, and district‑level educational systems, providing a comprehensive understanding of how students learn, how schools operate, and where traditional structures often fall short in preparing students for real‑world responsibilities. His work across secondary education has consistently focused on instructional quality, student development, and long‑term readiness.
Launching Minds Academy was created in response to a gap observed throughout his career: students may achieve academic success yet lack structured opportunities to develop essential life skills such as financial literacy, leadership, discipline, and personal accountability. The academy was intentionally designed to complement traditional schooling by providing skill‑based enrichment that supports students beyond coursework and grades.
As Founder and Lead Instructor, Dr. Abrahams designs and facilitates programs that emphasize purpose, structure, mentorship, and real‑world application. His approach encourages students to understand not only what they are learning, but why it matters, helping them build confidence, strengthen judgment, and take ownership of their growth during the critical middle and high school years.
